MGIS follows a project based system of integrated learning for classes upto 5th (and even beyond - with increased intensity) and the 5th graders were working with 'culture and identity' at our time of intervention. The fluid structure of the project and democratic approach to learning, allows this group project to take shape over the weeks and months, and this one happened to culminate at a culturally-relevant calendar for the school. The kids had already done a lot of the back end research work and today, we simply charted out the calendar months and festivals, and linked them to feelings and objects to boil down to tangible concrete ideas for implementation.
